Meet Our Team Of Experts
Alf Karrim
Alf is a seasoned consultant with over 30 years of experience across government and business sectors. Currently a Director at Macrocomm Group, he focuses on Smart Rail services and 4IR technology integration. At SRS, his expertise lies in business identification and retention. Alf has held leadership roles in Parliament, SARS, and Orbicom, and is active in social impact work through literacy and anti-abuse initiatives.
Connie Molusi
Connie is a seasoned consultant and company director with extensive leadership experience in public and private sectors. Former Group CEO of Johnnic Communications and advisor in President Mandela’s office, he has led major policy, investment, and turnaround initiatives. Notably, he oversaw a $917M solar project and grew SIOC-CDT’s fund from debt to R7.8B in assets. At SRS, Connie focuses on business attraction, retention, and overall management, leveraging his expertise in governance, investment strategy, and institutional transformation.
Ivan Pillay
Ivan is a seasoned consultant and former Deputy and Acting Commissioner of SARS, with over 15 years of experience in strategy, risk, and enforcement. He played a key role in the SARS turnaround and modernization, including the Siyaka Programme and tech upgrades. Ivan has served on various boards, including the Small Business Institute and The Whistle-blower House. At SRS, he brings deep expertise in business development with a focus on compliance, systems improvement, and institutional reform.
Ernst Swanepoel
Ernst is a professional engineer with over 50 years in the rail transport sector, having held senior roles at SA Railways, Transnet, SARCC, and PRASA. He holds degrees in Electrical Engineering, an MBA, and an MCom (cum laude), and is pursuing a PhD in lifecycle asset management. Ernst is a senior lecturer and developed Cranefield’s ISO 55000-based Asset Management course. At SRS, he is a technical engineering expert, focusing on strategic asset, logistics, and project management in rail.
Cox Mokgoro
Cox is a seasoned finance executive with over 30 years of experience across government and global corporations. He has held leadership roles at Vodacom, the Department of Public Works, and the Engineering Council of South Africa. Trained at Merrill Lynch and NYU, he holds a master’s in international business, BCom, and B Compt (Hons). A SAICA and IoDSA member, Cox brings deep expertise in financial management, governance, and strategic leadership to SRS, supporting sustainable business growth and operational excellence.
Klaus Sauer
Klaus is a rail systems engineer with over 30 years of experience specialising in Survey and Geodesy, rail operations, and infrastructure development. He has led major projects in Germany and South Africa, delivering complex rail design and construction solutions. Skilled in building high-performing teams and applying diverse national standards, Klaus ensures quality, safety, and efficiency. He is responsible for generating survey and topographical data (GIS/BIM) and holds a Diploma in Engineering (MSc equivalent) from Würzburg-Schweinfurt.
Shailesh Khandelwal
Shailesh is a seasoned engineer and leader in rail safety, design, and system integration. With over 35 years in railway signalling and telecom, He has directed major signalling and interlocking projects across India, including record-time system commissions for Indian Railways. A certified Functional Safety Engineer (TÜV SÜD), he is recognised for innovation, quality, and operational excellence. Shailesh holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics & Communications) from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal.
